Every year, the 6th Grade Class chooses a local nonprofit for their Philanthropy Project. Proceeds from the student-run School Store and Special Sales like snowcones and bake sales bring in funds. At the end of the year, their earnings are donated to the organization in a special ceremony.
In the 2025-26 school year, the students chose Books for STL Kids, a St. Louis not-for-profit that provides new books to children from low-income families. They are a 100% volunteer-run organization that reaches children through existing preschool and after-school programs, thus assisting these organizations in tackling illiteracy by providing new books to the children they serve. All books that are distributed by Books for STL Kids are brand new and are provided at no cost. They have given away more than 250,000 new books to children in the greater St. Louis area!
In May at the last Lower School gathering of the year, the 6th graders presented their check for $1500 to Paula Korman, a board member with the organization. Ms. Korman had this great news to share in June:
Thanks to The Fulton School's donation, Books for STL Kids will be hosting 13 Small Book Parties with Camp SLPS. Camp SLPS is a Choose Your Own Adventure themed learning program hosted by Saint Louis Public Schools to prepare kids for the incoming grade level. We have chosen to host 13 classroom experiences for kindergarten and first graders. Each classroom will have up to 25 kids, we will provide 2 books and host a reading and snack time. In total we deliver 650 books and 325 snacks to children in some of the most at-risk schools in the area. Thank you again for your generosity and for the partnership this year.
